After the maybe_init_list_as_* patches, I noticed that we were putting the
array of strings into .rodata, but then memcpying it into an automatic
array, which is pointless; we should be able to use it directly.
This doesn't happen automatically because TREE_ADDRESSABLE is set (since
r12-657 for PR100464), and so gimplify_init_constructor won't promote the
variable to static. Theoretically we could do escape analysis to recognize
that the address, though taken, never leaves the function; that would allow
promotion when we're only using the address for indexing within the
function, as in initlist-opt2.C. But this would be a new pass.
And in initlist-opt1.C, we're passing the array address to another function,
so it definitely escapes; it's only safe in this case because it's calling a
standard library function that we know only uses it for indexing. So, a
flag seems needed. I first thought to put the flag on the TARGET_EXPR, but
the VAR_DECL seems more appropriate.
In a previous revision of the patch I called this flag DECL_NOT_OBSERVABLE,
but I think DECL_MERGEABLE is a better name, especially if we're going to
apply it to the backing array of initializer_list, which is observable. I
then also check it in places that check for -fmerge-all-constants, so that
multiple equivalent initializer-lists can also be combined. And then it
seemed to make sense for [[no_unique_address]] to have this meaning for
user-written variables.
I think the note in [dcl.init.list]/6 intended to allow this kind of merging
for initializer_lists, but it didn't actually work; for an explicit array
with the same initializer, if the address escapes the program could tell
whether the same variable in two frames have the same address. P2752 is
trying to correct this defect, so I'm going to assume that this is the
intent.

The following testcase ICEs, because we determine only in late pure const
pass that bar is const (the content of the function loses a store to a
global var during dse3 and read from it during cddce2) and local-pure-const2
makes it const. The cgraph ordering is that post IPA (in late IPA simd
clones are created) bar is processed first, then foo as its caller, then
foo.simdclone* and finally bar.simdclone*. Conceptually I think that is the
right ordering which allows for static simd clones to be removed.
The reason for the ICE is that because bar was marked const, the call to
it lost vops before vectorization, and when we in foo.simdclone* try to
vectorize the call to bar, we replace it with bar.simdclone* which hasn't
been marked const and so needs vops, which we don't add.
Now, because the simd clones are created from the same IL, just in a loop
with different argument/return value passing, I think generally if the base
function is determined to be const or pure, the simd clones should be too,
unless e.g. the vectorization causes different optimization decisions, but
then still the global memory reads if any shouldn't affect what the function
does and global memory stores shouldn't be reachable at runtime.
So, the following patch changes set_{const,pure}_flag to mark also simd
clones.

For PR106099 I've added IFN_TRAP as an alternative to __builtin_trap
meant for __builtin_unreachable purposes (e.g. with -funreachable-traps
or some sanitizers) which doesn't need vops because __builtin_unreachable
doesn't need them either. This works in various cases, but unfortunately
IPA likes to decide on the redirection to unreachable just by tweaking
the cgraph edge to point to a different FUNCTION_DECL. As internal
functions don't have a decl, this causes problems like in the following
testcase.
The following patch fixes it by removing IFN_TRAP again and replacing
it with user inaccessible BUILT_IN_UNREACHABLE_TRAP, so that e.g.
builtin_decl_unreachable can return it directly and we don't need to tweak
it later in wherever we actually replace the call stmt.

IPA passes redirect some calls in what it determines to be unreachable code
to builtin_decl_unreachable. But that function returns sometimes
builtin_decl_explicit (BUILT_IN_UNREACHABLE) (which was what GCC 12
and earlier did always), or builtin_decl_explicit (BUILT_IN_TRAP)
(e.g. for -funreachable-traps, -O0, -Og).
Now the cgraph verification code has a code to verify cgraph edges
and has there an exception for these redirections to BUILT_IN_UNREACHABLE,
but doesn't have for BUILT_IN_TRAP, so e.g. the following testcase
ICEs during that verification.
The following patch just adds BUILT_IN_TRAP to those exceptions.

The code removing function bodies when the last call graph clone of a
node is removed is too aggressive when there are nodes up the
clone_of chain which still need them. Fixed by expanding the check.

The following matches up the cgraph code removing LHS of a noreturn
call with what fixup_noreturn_call does which gets along without
inserting a definition, fixing the ICE resulting from having no
place to actually insert that new def.

My earlier patches gimplify the simplest non-side-effects assumptions
into if (cond) ; else __builtin_unreachable (); and throw the rest
on the floor.
The following patch attempts to do something with the rest too.
For -O0, it throws the more complex assumptions on the floor,
we don't expect optimizations and the assumptions are there to allow
optimizations. Otherwise arranges for the assumptions to be
visible in the IL as

call where there is an artificial function like:

Aldy, could ranger handle this? If it sees .ASSUME call,
walk the body of such function from the edge(s) to exit with the
assumption that the function returns true, so above set _2 [true, true]
and from there derive that i_1(D) [43, 43] and then map the argument
in the assumption function to argument passed to IFN_ASSUME (note,
args there are shifted by 1)?
During gimplification it actually gimplifies it into
[[assume (D.2591)]]

which is a new GIMPLE_ASSUME statement wrapping a GIMPLE_BIND and
specifying a boolean_type_node variable which contains the result.
The GIMPLE_ASSUME then survives just a couple of passes and is lowered
during gimple lowering into an outlined separate function and
IFN_ASSUME call. Variables declared inside of the
condition (both static and automatic) just change context, automatic
variables from the caller are turned into parameters (note, as the code
is never executed, I handle this way even non-POD types, we don't need to
bother pretending there would be user copy constructors etc. involved).
The assume_function artificial functions are then optimized until the
new assumptions pass which doesn't do much right now but I'd like to see
there the backwards ranger walk and filling up of SSA_NAME_RANGE_INFO
for the parameters.
There are a few further changes I'd like to do, like ignoring the
.ASSUME calls in inlining size estimations (but haven't figured out where
it is done), or for LTO arrange for the assume functions to be emitted
in all partitions that reference those (usually there will be just one,
unless code with the assumption got inlined, versioned etc.).

I noticed that, while the C/C++ frontends invoke the GENERIC match.pd
simplifications to do early folding, the debug output from
generic-match.cc does not appear in the -fdump-tree-original output,
even with -fdump-tree-original-folding or -fdump-tree-original-all. This
patch fixes that.
For example, before the patch, for the following code:

The reason we don't get the match.pd output as it stands, is that the
original dump is treated specially in c-opts.cc: it gets its own state
which is independent from that used by other dump files in the compiler.
Like most of the compiler, the generated generic-match.cc has code of
the form:
if (dump_file && (dump_flags & TDF_FOLDING))
fprintf (dump_file, ...);
But, as it stands, -fdump-tree-original has its own FILE * and flags in
c-opts.cc (original_dump_{file,flags}) and never touches the global
dump_{file,flags} (managed by dumpfile.{h,cc}). This patch adjusts the
code in c-opts.cc to use the main dump infrastructure used by the rest
of the compiler, instead of treating the original dump specially.
We take the opportunity to make a small refactor: the code in
c-gimplify.cc:c_genericize can, with this change, use the global dump
infrastructure to get the original dump file and flags instead of using
the bespoke get_dump_info function implemented in c-opts.cc. With this
change, we remove the only use of get_dump_info, so this can be removed.
Note that we also fix a leak of the original dump file in
c_common_parse_file. I originally thought it might be possible to
achieve this with only one static call to dump_finish () (by simply
moving it earlier in the loop), but unfortunately the dump file is
required to be open while c_parse_final_cleanups runs, as we (e.g.)
perform some template instantiations here for C++, which need to appear
in the original dump file.
We adjust cgraph_node::get_create to avoid introducing noise in the
original dump file: without this, these "Introduced new external node"
lines start appearing in the original dump files, which breaks tests
that do a scan-tree-dump-times on the original dump looking for a
certain function name.

In the PR, the verifier complains that we did not manage to remove the
body of a node and it is right. The node is kept for materialization
of two clones but after one is materialized, the other one is removed
as unneeded (as a part of delete_unreachable_blocks_update_callgraph).
The problem is that the node removal does not check for this situation
and can leave the clone_of node there with a body attached to it even
though there is no use for it any more. This patch does checks for it
and handles the situation in a simlar way that
cgraph_node::materialize_clone does it, except that it also has to be
careful that the removed node itself does not have any clones, which
would still need the clone_of's body. Failing to do that results in a
bootstrap failure.

The following testcase ICEs, because the ctors during cc1plus all have
!opt_for_fn (decl, flag_semantic_interposition) - they have NULL
DECL_FUNCTION_SPECIFIC_OPTIMIZATION (decl) and optimization_default_node
is for -Ofast and so has flag_semantic_interposition cleared.
During free lang data, we set DECL_FUNCTION_SPECIFIC_OPTIMIZATION (decl)
for the ctor which has body (or for thunks), but don't touch it for
aliases.
During lto1 optimization_default_node reflects the lto1 flags which
are -O2 rather than -Ofast and so has flag_semantic_interposition
set, for the ctor which has body that makes no difference, but as the
alias doesn't still have DECL_FUNCTION_SPECIFIC_OPTIMIZATION (decl) set,
we now trigger this verification check.
The following patch just doesn't verify it for aliases during lto1.
Another possibility would be to set DECL_FUNCTION_SPECIFIC_OPTIMIZATION (decl)
during free lang data even for aliases.

ctor. I think that might be fine for varpool nodes, but since
flag_semantic_interposition is now implied from -Ofast it isn't correct
for cgraph nodes, unless we guarantee that cgraph node for a particular
function decl is always created while that function is
current_function_decl. That is often the case, but not always as the
following function shows.
Because symtab_node's ctor doesn't know for which decl the cgraph node
is being created, the following patch keeps that as is, but updates it from
opt_for_fn (decl, flag_semantic_interposition) when we know that, or for
clones copies that flag (often it is then overridden in
set_new_clone_decl_and_node_flags, but not always).
