2017-01-05[-fcompare-debug] find jump before debug insns in expandAlexandre Oliva1-1/+3
A debug insn after the final jump of a basic block may cause the expander to emit a dummy move where the non-debug compile won't because it finds the jump insn at the end of the insn stream. Fix the condition so that, instead of requiring the jump as the last insn, it also matches a jump followed by debug insns. This fixes the compilation of libgcc/libgcov-profiler.c with -fcompare-debug on i686-linux-gnu. for gcc/ChangeLog * cfgexpand.c (expand_gimple_basic_block): Disregard debug insns after final jump in test to emit dummy move. 2016-10-21make LABEL_REF_LABEL a rtx_insn *Trevor Saunders1-1/+1
While changing LABEL_REF_LABEL it might as well become an inline function, so that its clearer what types are involved. Unfortunately because it is still possible to use XEXP and related macros on a LABEL_REF rtx you can still set the field to be a non insn rtx. The other unfortunate thing is that the generators actually create LABEL_REF rtx that refer to MATCH_x rtx, so there we actually need to use XEXP to bypass the checking this patch adds. gcc/ChangeLog: 2016-10-21 Trevor Saunders <tbsaunde+gcc@tbsaunde.org> * rtl.h (label_ref_label): New function. 2016-07-18Allocate constant size dynamic stack space in the prologueDominik Vogt1-5/+17
The attached patch fixes a warning during Linux kernel compilation on S/390 due to -mwarn-dynamicstack and runtime alignment of stack variables with constant size causing cfun->calls_alloca to be set (even if alloca is not used at all). The patched code places constant size runtime aligned variables in the "virtual stack vars" area instead of creating a "virtual stack dynamic" area. This behaviour is activated by defining #define ALLOCATE_DYNAMIC_STACK_SPACE_IN_PROLOGUE 1 in the backend; otherwise the old logic is used. The kernel uses runtime alignment for the page structure (aligned to 16 bytes), and apart from triggereing the alloca warning (-mwarn-dynamicstack), the current Gcc also generates inefficient code like aghi %r15,-160 # prologue: create stack frame lgr %r11,%r15 # prologue: generate frame pointer aghi %r15,-32 # space for dynamic stack which could be simplified to aghi %r15,-192 (if later optimization passes are able to get rid of the frame pointer). Is there a specific reason why the patched behaviour shouldn't be used for all platforms? -- As the placement of runtime aligned stack variables with constant size is done completely in the middleend, I don't see a way to fix this in the backend. gcc/ChangeLog: 2016-07-18 Dominik Vogt <vogt@linux.vnet.ibm.com> * cfgexpand.c (expand_stack_vars): Implement synamic stack space allocation in the prologue. * explow.c (get_dynamic_stack_base): New function to return an address expression for the dynamic stack base. 2016-05-20Implement CALL_EXPR_MUST_TAIL_CALLDavid Malcolm1-0/+1
This patch implements support for marking CALL_EXPRs as being mandatory for tail-call-optimization. expand_call tries harder to perform the optimization on such CALL_EXPRs, and issues an error if it fails. Currently this flag isn't accessible from any frontend, so the patch uses a plugin for testing the functionality. gcc/ChangeLog: * calls.c (maybe_complain_about_tail_call): New function. 2016-05-09Fix handling of negative bitpos in expand_debug_exprRichard Sandiford1-1/+1
expand_debug_expr handled negative bit positions using: else if (bitpos < 0) { HOST_WIDE_INT units = (-bitpos + BITS_PER_UNIT - 1) / BITS_PER_UNIT; op0 = adjust_address_nv (op0, mode1, units); bitpos += units * BITS_PER_UNIT; } Here "units" is the negative of the (negative) byte offset, so I think we should be offsetting OP0 by -units instead. E.g. a bitpos of -17 would give units==3, so this code would move OP0 up by 3 bytes and set bitpos to 7, giving a total bitpos of 31. Just noticed by inspection. An assert triggered for: gcc.target/i386/mpx/bitfields-1-lbv.c gcc.target/i386/mpx/field-addr-7-lbv.c gcc.target/i386/mpx/reference-3-lbv.cpp gcc.target/i386/mpx/reference-4-lbv.cpp at -m32 but otherwise this case doesn't seem to trigger during a bootstrap and regtest. 2015-12-11avoid alignment of static variables affecting stack'sJan Beulich1-0/+3
Function (or more narrow) scope static variables (as well as others not placed on the stack) should also not have any effect on the stack alignment. I noticed the issue first with Linux'es dynamic_pr_debug() construct using an 8-byte aligned sub-file-scope local variable. According to my checking bad behavior started with 4.6.x (4.5.3 was still okay), but generated code got quite a bit worse as of 4.9.0. gcc/ 2015-12-11 Jan Beulich <jbeulich@suse.com> * cfgexpand.c (expand_one_var): Exit early for static and external variables when adjusting stack alignment related. gcc/testsuite/ 2015-12-11 Jan Beulich <jbeulich@suse.com> * gcc.c-torture/execute/stkalign.c: New.
