* gdb.t00 (teststrategy.exp): Remove notice about PR 1823. Bug
is fixed and PR is closed.
* gdb.t16 (gdbme.c): Add simple test string variable.
* gdb.t16 (printcmds.exp): Add tests with simple test string
variable, primarily for boundaries on "set print elements".
