2010-03-26cfi flash: add status polling method for amd flashThomas Chou1-7/+86
This patch adds status polling method to offer an alternative to data toggle method for amd flash chips. This patch is needed for nios2 cfi flash interface, where the bus controller performs 4 bytes read cycles for a single byte read instruction. The data toggle method can not detect chip busy status correctly. So we have to poll DQ7, which will be inverted when the chip is busy. Using seperate function calls for each bit-bang of slave serial load can be painfully slow. This patch adds the possibility to supply a block write function that loads the complete block of data in one call (like it can already be done with Altera FPGAs). However, they require pins that could be not available because required by other functions and the detection of a card must be performed in another way. Commit f9b6a1575d9f1ca192e4cb60e547aa66f08baa3f, "i.MX31: fix SPI driver for shorter than 32 bit" broke 32 bit transfers. This patch makes single 32 bit transfer work again. Transfer lengths that are known not to work will abort and print an error message. Tested on i.MX31 Litekit and i.MX31 PDK using 32 bit transfers to the MC13783/ATLAS chip (using the 'date' command). Although the datasheet mentions seperate smi registers for each port, using Port 1 smi register to access ethernet phys does not work. Hence only Port 0 smi register should be used to access all devices connected to the smi bus. This behavior is consistant with the mv643xx driver in the linux kernel. The TSEC_FIBER flag should be set when a PHY is operating with an external fiber interface. Currently it is only used to notify a user that the PHY is operating in fiber mode.
