The function bcm6345_wdt_start use the argument timeout as tick but it should be used as milliseconds. A clock is added as requirement for this driver. The frequency of the clock is then used to convert the millisecond to ticks in the function bcm6345_wdt_start. Dependencies of four drivers are changed to SOC_MT7628 as these drivers are only used by MT7628. With the generic watchdog driver now implemented, this patch removes some legacy stuff from the MPC8xx watchdog driver and its Kconfig integration. CONFIG_MPC8xx_WATCHDOG is completely removed and hw_watchdog_reset() is made static, as the watchdog will now get serviced via the DM infrastructure if enabled via CONFIG_WATCHDOG. Now that we have a generic DT property "timeout-sec" handling, the driver specific implementation can be dropped. This patch also changes the timeout restriction to the min and max values (clipping). Before this patch, the value provided via "timeout-sec" was used if the parameter was too high or low. Now the driver specific min and max values are used instead. 2019-04-26watchdog: Implement generic watchdog_reset() versionStefan Roese2-0/+27
This patch tries to implement a generic watchdog_reset() function that can be used by all boards that want to service the watchdog device in U-Boot. This watchdog servicing is enabled via CONFIG_WATCHDOG. Without this approach, new boards or platforms needed to implement a board specific version of this functionality, mostly copy'ing the same code over and over again into their board or platforms code base. With this new generic function, the scattered other functions are now removed to be replaced by the generic one. The new version also enables the configuration of the watchdog timeout via the DT "timeout-sec" property (if enabled via CONFIG_OF_CONTROL). This patch also adds a new flag to the GD flags, to flag that the watchdog is ready to use and adds the pointer to the watchdog device to the GD. This enables us to remove the global "watchdog_dev" variable, which was prone to cause problems because of its potentially very early use in watchdog_reset(), even before the BSS is cleared. 2019-04-09watchdog: at91sam9_wdt: Fix WDT setup in at91_wdt_start()Stefan Roese1-12/+14
This patch fixes the timer register setup in at91_wdt_start() to correctly configure the register again. The input timeout value is now in milli-seconds instead of seconds with the new watchdog API. Make sure to take this into account and only use a max timeout value of 16 seconds as appropriate for this SoC. Also the check against a lower timeout value than 0 is removed. This check makes no sense, as the timeout value is unsigned. 2019-01-21watchdog: armada_37xx: Fix compliance with kernel's driverMarek Behún1-42/+67
The Armada 37xx watchdog driver was recently accepted for mainline kernel by watchdog subsystem maintainer, but the driver works a little different than the one in U-Boot. This patch fixes this. In the previous implementation there was a tiny period of time when the watchdog was disabled and the system was vulnerables - this was during pinging, which was done by disabling, setting, and enabling the counter. Now pinging is done without disabling the watchdog. We use 2 counters: Counter 1 is the watchdog counter - on expiry, the system is reset. Counter 0 is used to reset Counter 1 to start counting from the set timeout again. So Counter 1 is set to be reset on Counter 0 expiry event event and pinging is done by forcing an immediate expiry event on Counter 0. This patch adds a DM driver for the MPC8xx watchdog. Basically, the watchdog is enabled by default from the start and SYPCR register has to be writen once to set the timeout and/or deactivate the watchdog. Once written, it cannot be written again. 2018-11-14watchdog: Remove DM_FLAG_PRE_RELOC flag in various driversBin Meng1-1/+0
When a driver declares DM_FLAG_PRE_RELOC flag, it wishes to be bound before relocation. However due to a bug in the DM core, the flag only takes effect when devices are statically declared via U_BOOT_DEVICE(). This bug has been fixed recently by commit "dm: core: Respect drivers with the DM_FLAG_PRE_RELOC flag in lists_bind_fdt()", but with the fix, it has a side effect that all existing drivers that declared DM_FLAG_PRE_RELOC flag will be bound before relocation now. This may expose potential boot failure on some boards due to insufficient memory during the pre-relocation stage. 2018-09-04watchdog: mx25: use the imx_watchdog driver for mx25Martin Kaiser1-1/+1
The existing imx_watchdog driver is compatible with mx25 chipsets. Add a WDOG1_BASE_ADDR define for the base address and enable the driver in watchdog's Makefile. To use the driver, a board must define CONFIG_IMX_WATCHDOG and CONFIG_HW_WATCHDOG. This fixes an issue when booting an mx25 chip via usb/serial. In this case, the boot rom will always enable the watchdog. If u-boot is running in interactive mode and the watchdog is not serviced, the system is rebooted when the watchdog expires. This adds support for the CPU watchdog found on Marvell Armada 37xx SoCs. There are 4 counters which can be set as CPU watchdog counters. This driver uses the second counter (ID 1, counting from 0) (Marvell's Linux also uses second counter by default). 2018-05-07SPDX: Convert all of our single license tags to Linux Kernel styleTom Rini16-33/+16
When U-Boot started using SPDX tags we were among the early adopters and there weren't a lot of other examples to borrow from. So we picked the area of the file that usually had a full license text and replaced it with an appropriate SPDX-License-Identifier: entry. Since then, the Linux Kernel has adopted SPDX tags and they place it as the very first line in a file (except where shebangs are used, then it's second line) and with slightly different comment styles than us. In part due to community overlap, in part due to better tag visibility and in part for other minor reasons, switch over to that style. This commit changes all instances where we have a single declared license in the tag as both the before and after are identical in tag contents. 2018-03-16watchdog: omap_wdt: improve watchdog reset pathRuslan Bilovol1-6/+15
Remove busy looping during watchdog reset. Each polling of W_PEND_WTGR bit ("finish posted write") after watchdog reset takes 120-140us on BeagleBone Black board. Current U-Boot code has watchdog resets in random places and often there is situation when watchdog is reset few times in a row in nested functions. This adds extra delays and slows the whole system. Instead of polling W_PEND_WTGR bit, we skip watchdog reset if the bit is set. Anyway, watchdog is in the middle of reset *right now*, so we can just return. This noticeably increases performance of the system. The Orion watchdog can be found on some Marvell Armada chips. This driver is based on the code by Tomas Hlavacek in the CZ.NIC turris-omnia-uboot repository, which can be found at https://gitlab.labs.nic.cz/turris/turris-omnia-uboot, and that one is based on code by Sylver Bruneau. His code is already in mainline Linux kernel. The code uses the new driver model API.
