Move this out of the common header and include it only where needed. In a number of cases this requires adding "struct udevice;" to avoid adding another large header or in other cases replacing / adding missing header files that had been pulled in, very indirectly. Finally, we have a few cases where we did not need to include <asm/global_data.h> at all, so remove that include. 2020-05-18command: Remove the cmd_tbl_t typedefSimon Glass1-1/+1
We should not use typedefs in U-Boot. They cannot be used as forward declarations which means that header files must include the full header to access them. 2018-05-07SPDX: Convert all of our single license tags to Linux Kernel styleTom Rini1-2/+1
When U-Boot started using SPDX tags we were among the early adopters and there weren't a lot of other examples to borrow from. So we picked the area of the file that usually had a full license text and replaced it with an appropriate SPDX-License-Identifier: entry. Since then, the Linux Kernel has adopted SPDX tags and they place it as the very first line in a file (except where shebangs are used, then it's second line) and with slightly different comment styles than us. In part due to community overlap, in part due to better tag visibility and in part for other minor reasons, switch over to that style. This commit changes all instances where we have a single declared license in the tag as both the before and after are identical in tag contents. All these places seem to inherit the codes from the MMC driver where a FIXME was put in the comment. However the correct operation after read should be cache invalidate, not flush. The underlying drivers should be responsible for the cache operation. Remove these codes completely. 2011-11-29powerpc/85xx: clean up and document the QE/FMAN microcode macrosTimur Tabi1-2/+2
Several macros are used to identify and locate the microcode binary image that U-boot needs to upload to the QE or Fman. Both the QE and the Fman use the QE Firmware binary format to package their respective microcode data, which is why the same macros are used for both. A given SOC will only have a QE or an Fman, so this is safe. Unfortunately, the current macro definition and usage has inconsistencies. For example, CONFIG_SYS_FMAN_FW_ADDR was used to define the address of Fman firmware in NOR flash, but CONFIG_SYS_QE_FW_IN_NAND contains the address of NAND. There's no way to know by looking at a variable how it's supposed to be used. In the future, the code which uploads QE firmware and Fman firmware will be merged. The hush shell dynamically allocates (and re-allocates) memory for the argument strings in the "char *argv[]" argument vector passed to commands. Any code that modifies these pointers will cause serious corruption of the malloc data structures and crash U-Boot, so make sure the compiler can check that no such modifications are being done by changing the code into "char * const argv[]". This modification is the result of debugging a strange crash caused after adding a new command, which used the following argument processing code which has been working perfectly fine in all Unix systems since version 6 - but not so in U-Boot: int main (int argc, char **argv) { while (--argc > 0 && **++argv == '-') { /* ====> */ while (*++*argv) { switch (**argv) { case 'd': debug++; break; ... default: usage (); } } } ... } The line marked "====>" will corrupt the malloc data structures and usually cause U-Boot to crash when the next command gets executed by the shell. With the modification, the compiler will prevent this with an error: increment of read-only location '*argv' N.B.: The code above can be trivially rewritten like this: while (--argc > 0 && **++argv == '-') { char *arg = *argv; while (*++arg) { switch (*arg) { ... Many of the help messages were not really helpful; for example, many commands that take no arguments would not print a correct synopsis line, but "No additional help available." which is not exactly wrong, but not helpful either. Commit ``Make "usage" messages more helpful.'' changed this partially. But it also became clear that lots of "Usage" and "Help" messages (fields "usage" and "help" in struct cmd_tbl_s respective) were actually redundant. This patch cleans this up - for example: Before: => help dtt dtt - Digital Thermometer and Thermostat Usage: dtt - Read temperature from digital thermometer and thermostat. Define the layout of a binary blob that contains a QE firmware and instructions on how to upload it. Add function qe_upload_firmware() to parse the blob and perform the actual upload. Add command-line command "qe fw" to take a firmware blob in memory and upload it. Update ft_cpu_setup() on 85xx to create the 'firmware' device tree node if U-Boot has uploaded a firmware.
