I used these shell commands: ../glibc/scripts/update-copyrights $PWD/../gnulib/build-aux/update-copyright (cd ../glibc && git commit -am"[this commit message]") and then ignored the output, which consisted lines saying "FOO: warning: copyright statement not found" for each of 7061 files FOO. I then removed trailing white space from math/tgmath.h, support/tst-support-open-dev-null-range.c, and sysdeps/x86_64/multiarch/strlen-vec.S, to work around the following obscure pre-commit check failure diagnostics from Savannah. 2021-07-19resolv: Move res_mkquery, res_nmkquery into libcFlorian Weimer1-20/+28
This switches to public symbols without __ prefixes, due to improved namespace management in glibc. The symbols res_mkquery, __res_mkquery, __res_nmkquery were moved with the script (using --no-new-version). res_mkquery@@GLIBC_2.34, res_nmkquery@@GLIBC_2.34 were added using make update-all-abi. 2019-11-27resolv: Implement trust-ad option for /etc/resolv.conf [BZ #20358]Florian Weimer1-0/+2
This introduces a concept of trusted name servers, for which the AD bit is passed through to applications. For untrusted name servers (the default), the AD bit in responses are cleared, to provide a safe default. This approach is very similar to the one suggested by Pavel Šimerda in <https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1164339#c15>. 2019-03-22Do not use HP_TIMING_NOW for random bitsAdhemerval Zanella1-16/+3
This patch removes the HP_TIMING_BITS usage for fast random bits and replace with clock_gettime (CLOCK_MONOTONIC). It has unspecified starting time and nano-second accuracy, so its randomness is significantly better than gettimeofday. Althoug it should incur in more overhead (specially for architecture that support hp-timing), the symbol is also common implemented as a vDSO. Checked on aarch64-linux-gnu, x86_64-linux-gnu, and i686-linux-gnu. struct resolv_context objects provide a temporary resolver context which does not change during a name lookup operation. Only when the outmost context is created, the stub resolver configuration is verified to be current (at present, only against previous res_init calls). Subsequent attempts to obtain the context will reuse the result of the initial verification operation. struct resolv_context can also be extended in the future to store data which needs to be deallocated during thread cancellation.
