2022-01-01Automatic Copyright Year update after running gdb/copyright.pyJoel Brobecker1-1/+1
This commit brings all the changes made by running gdb/copyright.py as per GDB's Start of New Year Procedure. For the avoidance of doubt, all changes in this commits were performed by the script.
2021-11-02sim: hoist cgen mloop rules up to common buildsMike Frysinger1-56/+0
These rules don't depend on the target compiler settings, so hoist the build logic up to the common builds for better parallelization. We have to extend the genmloop.sh logic a bit to allow outputting to a subdir since it always assumed cwd was the right place. We leave the cgen maintainer rules in the subdirs for now as they aren't normally run, and they rely on cgen logic that has not yet been generalized.
2021-11-01sim: m32r: reduce -Wno-error scopeMike Frysinger1-2/+2
Only two files in here still generates warnings, so reduce the -Werror disable to that now that we require GNU make and can set variables on a per-object basis.
2021-10-31sim: tighten up stamp rulesMike Frysinger1-3/+6
Add a new ECHO_STAMP helper and convert existing stamp code over to it. This is mostly common rules and cgen mloop rules.
2021-10-31sim: silence stamp touch rulesMike Frysinger1-7/+7
We pretty much never care about these stamp touches, so silence them. Also switch to using $@ when it makes sense.
2021-10-31sim: standardize move-if-change rulesMike Frysinger1-6/+6
Use the srcroot path and make them all silent.
2021-07-01sim: m32r: unify ELF & Linux traps logicMike Frysinger1-4/+1
This makes the simulator work the same regardless of the target (bare metal m32r-elf or Linux m32r-linux-gnu) by unifying the traps code. It was mostly already the same with the only difference being support for trap #2 reserved for Linux syscalls. We can move that logic to runtime by checking the current environment operating mode instead.
2021-06-21sim: hw: rework configure option & device selectionMike Frysinger1-0/+2
The sim-hardware configure option allows builders to select a set of device models to enable. But this seems like unnecessary overkill: the existence of individual device models doesn't affect performance at all as they are only enabled at runtime if the config uses them, and individually these are all <5KB a piece. Stripping off a total of ~50KB from a ~1MB binary doesn't seem useful, and it's extremely unlikely anyone will ever bother. So let's simplify the configure/make logic by turning sim-hardware into a boolean option like many of the other sim options. Any ports that have unique device models will declare them in their Makefile instead of at configure time. This will allow us to (eventually) unify the setting into the common dir.
2021-06-20sim: unify cgen maintainer settingsMike Frysinger1-5/+0
Move these options up to the common dir so we only test & export them once across all ports. It makes it available to targets that aren't cgen-based, but those will just ignore the settings, so it shouldn't be an issue.
2021-06-18sim: move -Werror disabling to MakefileMike Frysinger1-0/+3
For the ports that still don't build with -Werror, rather than disable the flag at configure time, do it at make time. This will allow us to unify these tests in the common sim configure script.
2021-04-26sim: nltvals: unify common syscall tablesMike Frysinger1-3/+0
Since libgloss provides a default syscall table for arches, use that to provide the default syscall table for ports. Only the exceptions need to be enumerated now with the common logic as the default.
2021-04-22Remove and modernize dependencies in simTom Tromey1-33/+2
Some spots in the sim build used manual dependencies, and some spots did a compilation by hand but did not use the automatic dependency tracking code. This patch fixes these spots. I didn't touch ppc, because it doesn't use the common Makefile code. I also didn't touch objects that are for the build machine, because automatic dependencies don't work for those. sim/arm/ChangeLog 2021-04-22 Tom Tromey <tom@tromey.com> * Makefile.in (armemu26.o, armemu32.o): Use COMPILE and POSTCOMPILE. sim/bpf/ChangeLog 2021-04-22 Tom Tromey <tom@tromey.com> * Makefile.in (arch.o, cpu.o, sim-if.o, traps.o): Remove. gdb/ChangeLog: Update copyright year range in all GDB files.
2019-01-01Update copyright year range in all GDB files.Joel Brobecker1-1/+1
This commit applies all changes made after running the gdb/copyright.py script. Note that one file was flagged by the script, due to an invalid copyright header (gdb/unittests/basic_string_view/element_access/char/empty.cc). As the file was copied from GCC's libstdc++-v3 testsuite, this commit leaves this file untouched for the time being; a patch to fix the header was sent to gcc-patches first. gdb/ChangeLog: Update copyright year range in all GDB files.

2015-12-27sim: unify sim-hloadMike Frysinger1-1/+0
Pretty much all targets are using this module already, so add it to the common list of objects. The only oddball out here is cris and that's because it supports loading via an offset for all the phdrs. We drop support for that.
2015-12-25sim: m32r: migrate from WITH_DEVICES to WITH_HWMike Frysinger1-2/+1
The m32r port was using the device framework to handle two devices: the cache and uart registers. Both can be implemented in the newer hardware framework instead which allows us to drop the device logic entirely, as well as delete the tconfig.h file. While creating the new uart device model, I also added support for using stdin to read/write data rather than only supporting sockets. This has been lightly tested as there doesn't appear to be test coverage for the code already. If anyone still cares about this port, then they should (hopefully) file bug reports.
2015-12-25sim: sim-model: build for everyoneMike Frysinger1-1/+0
Rather than include this for some targets, set it up so we can build it all the time via the common code. This makes it easier for targets to opt into it when they're ready, increases build coverage, and allows us to centralize much of the logic. We also get to delete tconfig.h from two more targets -- they were setting WITH_DEVICES to 0 which has the same behavior as not defining it at all. While the SIM_HAVE_MODEL knob is gone, we now have WITH_MODEL_P, but it is only used by the common sim-model code. We use it to declare dummy model lists when the arch hasn't created its own.
2015-11-16sim: sim-stop/sim-reason/sim-reg: move to common obj listMike Frysinger1-2/+1
Now that all arches (for the most part) have moved over, move sim-stop.o, sim-reason.o, and sim-reg.o to the common object list and out of all the arch ports.
2015-04-15sim: unify sim-cpu usageMike Frysinger1-1/+0
Now that all the targets are utilizing CPU_PC_{FETCH,STORE}, and the cpu state is multicore, and the STATE_CPU defines match, we can move it all to the common code.
2015-04-06sim: move sim-engine.o/sim-hrw.o to the common listMike Frysinger1-2/+1
This makes these two objects available to all sims by default.
2015-03-14sim: make nrun the default run programMike Frysinger1-1/+0
We want people to stop using the run.c frontend, but it's hard to notice when it's still set as the default. Lets flip things so nrun.c is the default, and users of run.c will get an error by default. We turn that error into a warning for existing sims so we don't break them -- this is mostly meant for people starting new ports.

2014-08-23Fix m32r-elf sim, default hardware to off.Hans-Peter Nilsson1-2/+1
The situation here is similar to that of the other nearby (previous) sims fixed; it fails at the dv_sockser_install declaration in sim/m32r/tconfig.in. But, as opposed to e.g. frv, this *does* have a definition of UART_INCHAR_ADDR et al. It's somewhat tempting to keep sim-hardware enabled here but, I'm disabling it for the same reasons as for frv. Unsurprisingly (as m32r seems to be the template), the same confusing lines are in sim/m32r/Makefile.in as in sim/frv/Makefile.in at that time, deleted in 73e76d20. Again, commit 73e76d20 (for m32r as well as for frv) attempted to move the non-existing dv-sockser.o use to $(m32r_extra_objs) but missed that AC_SUBST would only affect @m32r_extra_objs@ and not $(m32r_extra_objs) per se so nothing happened. As for frv, I'm removing the $(m32r_extra_objs) too, to avoid confusion. Make check-sim for m32r-elf shows no regressions (5 failures; 100 expected passes) compared to bf3d9781ec049 (before the recent config.in regen, after sim-hardware mostly-enabled) and eed23bb4a1 (before the sim-hardware mostly-enabled; 2013-03-23). sim/m32r: * configure.ac: Default simulator hardware to off again. Remove dead m32r_extra_objs substitution. * configure: Regenerate. * Makefile.in: Remove unused frv_extra_objs.

2013-03-31sim: frv/m32r: back out hard failure when dv-sockser is not availableMike Frysinger1-4/+1
These sims have optional support for the dv-sockser model, so do not make them hard failures. The Makefile made it seem like they didn't actually support things dynamically, but a further code dive into the source and the Makefile shows that things work out.
2013-01-01Update years in copyright notice for the GDB files.Joel Brobecker1-2/+1
Two modifications: 1. The addition of 2013 to the copyright year range for every file; 2. The use of a single year range, instead of potentially multiple year ranges, as approved by the FSF.
