This commit brings all the changes made by running gdb/copyright.py as per GDB's Start of New Year Procedure. For the avoidance of doubt, all changes in this commits were performed by the script.

Now that ChangeLog entries are no longer used for GDB patches, this commit renames the file gdb/ChangeLog to gdb/ChangeLog-2021, similar to what we would do in the context of the "Start of New Year" procedure. The purpose of this change is to avoid people merging ChangeLog entries by mistake when applying existing commits that they are currently working on.

We are using -Werror=missing-declarations, and the _S.h files generated by mig do not currently include a declaration for the server routine. gnu-nat.c used to have its own external declarations, but better just share them between gnu-nat.c and the _S.c files. 2019-02-07Normalize include guards in gdbTom Tromey6-15/+20
While working on my other scripts to deal with gdb headers, I noticed that some files were missing include guards. I wrote a script to add the missing ones, but found that using the obvious names for the guards ran into clashes -- for example, gdb/nat/linux-nat.h used "LINUX_NAT_H", but this was also the script's choice for gdb/linux-nat.h. So, I changed the script to normalize all include guards in gdb. This patch is the result. This commit applies all changes made after running the gdb/copyright.py script. Note that one file was flagged by the script, due to an invalid copyright header (gdb/unittests/basic_string_view/element_access/char/empty.cc). As the file was copied from GCC's libstdc++-v3 testsuite, this commit leaves this file untouched for the time being; a patch to fix the header was sent to gcc-patches first. gdb/ChangeLog: Update copyright year range in all GDB files.

Due to my ongoing work to make it possible for gdbserver to start the inferior using the shell, I had to share the fork_inferior function under the "nat/" directory. In order to do that, I created a new file and put the function there; however, this meant that I now had to update some of the *.mh files (under "gdb/config") and add the new file as a dependency to be built natively. Bleh... After talking a bit to Pedro about this, the idea came up to write a new "gdb/configure.nat" file, a la "gdb/configure.tgt", which would concentrate all of the native settings for each host/system. I decided to tackle this issue. The patch is simple. All of the previous Makefile variables that were being declared inside the *.mh files are now inside "gdb/Makefile.in", and "gdb/configure" is responsible for AC_SUBST'ing them. The definitions of these variables were put inside "gdb/configure.nat", so now they're shell variables. For excerpts of Makefile code, one must create a file under "gdb/config/${gdb_cpu_host}" and reference it on the "nat_extra_makefile_frag" variable. It should now be easier to update the native dependencies of hosts in this single file. Move the debug register support code from amd64bsd-nat.c and i386bsd-nat.c into a shared x86bsd-nat.c. Instead of setting up x86_dr_low in amd64fbsd-nat.c and i386fbsd-nat.c, add a x86bsd_target function that creates a new target that inherits from inf_ptrace and sets up x86 debug registers if supported. In addition to initializing x86_dr_low, the x86bsd target installs a custom mourn_inferior target operation to clean up the x86 debug register state. Previously this was only done on amd64. Now it will be done for both i386 and amd64. A relatively recent patch support for explicit locations, and part of that patch cleaned up the way we parse breakpoint locations. Unfortunatly, a small regression crept in for "*<EXPR>" breakpoint locations. In particular, on PIE programs, one can see the issue by doing the following, with any program: (gdb) b *main Breakpoint 1 at 0x51a: file hello.c, line 3. Cannot access memory at address 0x51a Just for the record, this regression was introduced by: commit a06efdd6effd149a1d392df8d62824e44872003a Date: Tue Aug 11 17:09:35 2015 -0700 Subject: Explicit locations: introduce address locations What happens is that the patch makes the implicit assumption that the address computed the first time is static, as if it was designed to only support litteral expressions (Eg. "*0x1234"). This allows the shortcut of not re-computing the breakpoint location's address when re-setting breakpoints. However, this does not work in general, as demonstrated in the example above. This patch plugs that hole simply by saving the original expression used to compute the address as part of the address location, so as to then re-evaluate that expression during breakpoint re-set. gdb/ChangeLog: * location.h (new_address_location): Add new parameters "addr_string" and "addr_string_len". 2015-07-17Move common aarch64 HW breakpoint/watchpoint code to nat/Yao Qi1-1/+1
When I look at test fails related to watchpoint on aarch64-linux, I find there are some code duplicates between GDB and GDBserver. This patch is to move some of them to a nat/aarch64-linux-hw-point.{h,c}. The only change I do is about the dr_changed_t typedef, which was ULONGEST in GDB and 'unsigned long long' in GDBserver. This patch is to let aarch64 GDB debug 32-bit arm program natively. In each function for fetching and storing registers, GDB will check gdbarch_bfd_arch_info (gdbarch)->bits_per_word, if it is 32, call the corresponding aarch32 functions in aarch32-linux-nat.c, otherwise fall back to aarch64 code to fetch and store registers. aarch64_linux_read_description has to return the right target description, but we don't have gdbarch available there, so GDB fetches auxv and gets AT_PHENT, in order to determine whether the target is 32-bit or 64-bit. This patch moves the shared code present on gdb/linux-nat.c:linux_nat_create_inferior and gdb/gdbserver/linux-low.c:linux_create_inferior to nat/linux-personality.c. This code is responsible for disabling address space randomization based on user setting, and using <sys/personality.h> to do that. I decided to put the prototype of the maybe_disable_address_space_randomization on nat/linux-osdata.h because it seemed the best place to put it. This patch is to teach both GDB and GDBServer to detect 64-bit inferior correctly. We find a problem that GDBServer is unable to detect on a e5500 core processor. Current GDBServer assumes that MSR is a 64-bit register, but MSR is a 32-bit register in Book III-E. This patch is to fix this problem by checking the right bit in MSR, in order to handle both Book III-S and Book III-E. In order to detect Book III-S and Book III-E, we check the PPC_FEATURE_BOOKE from the host's HWCAP (by getauxval on glibc >= 2.16. If getauxval doesn't exist, we implement the fallback by parsing /proc/self/auxv), because it should an invariant on the same machine cross different processes. Since Andreas Arnez' recent patch series, all Linux targets install gdbarch_iterate_over_regset_sections routines. This means that on Linux native targets, old-style core sniffers are never used. Most Linux targets haven't been using such sniffers for a long time anyway, but a couple remain: ia64 and sparc use core-regset.o, and m68k installs its own core_fns.
